This Bogeyman
Revision // reinterpretation // stark rewriting of the Bogeyman tales.
The Bogeyman is a common allusion to a mythical creature in many cultures used by adults to frighten children into good behavior. This monster has no specific appearance, and conceptions about it can vary drastically from household to household within the same community; in many cases, he has no set appearance in the mind of an adult or child, but is simply a non-specific embodiment of terror.

Michael Sicinski on This Bogeyman at First Look Festival at The Museum of the Moving Image, NYC, January 2017:
"(...) This Bogeyman from Spain’s Pere Ginard, resists in a completely unique way. The film refuses to give final form to our fears. Starting out with a throbbing black square, the Super 8 film rapidly mutates to include light spikes, found footage, and other gestures of shock. Their very plurality emphasizes the obvious—it’s only a movie—and turns fright into child’s play."
